Would it be geared towards developing apps, or more towards showcasing existing apps?

Perhaps it is my ignorance on the iphone craze, but is this is a topic about whether or not an iphone can be justified in an Enterprise for those willing to absorb the cost?
Is there a way for me to run my iphone for work without iTunes? Does iphone bring any advantages over Blackberry/Treo?
